The girls of Sunday Brunch talk so much about love and heartbreak so we asked them, “What’s your favorite love song and why?”
Ashley: My Daddy is in the music industry so I grew up on Dolly. As a little girl I would stand on the tops of Daddy’s feet and he would swing me around and around teaching me “how to let the man lead.” On my wedding day, Daddy held me in his arms and we danced to Dolly’s “I Will Always Love You.” I’ve always been blessed with a family and friends that “will always love me” unconditionally. They’ve taught me what love is and how it can just swallow you up. Makes me tear up thinking about it.
Ryan: The love song that most resonates with me now is “Both Sides, Now” by Joni Mitchell. Her hauntingly melodic voice along with the meaning behind her words make me lose myself completely. When I first fell in love with Layne, it was passionate and everything looked like “ice-cream castles in the air.” But as our relationship began to change and we started falling apart, I began to see the “clouds” from a different side…I no longer saw everything in it’s simple beauty, but more so like clouds as signs of rain or bad weather. This song just shows that as we grow up and lose our natural childlike optimism, we begin to see things with more clarity and honest…seeing clouds or life or love for what they are. Still beautiful, just different.
Cameron: Having been in the spotlight as a child star since the age of 8, I have pretty much seen it all. You hear people say things about you that make you grow a really thick skin and you can either believe them or believe in yourself. I have grown to love all of the things about me that make me me and my idea of the perfect love song is someone that sees the quirks in me and loves me for them. Just the way I am. That is why Bruno Mars, “Just The Way You Are” is my favorite love song. For the words in the song and his sexy little dancing butt.
