What you think you become.
We started this project as 3 individuals wanting to create a story. We had 3 different perspectives and we all are pretty strong-willed little ladies. But we thought, “We want to create a project that is bigger than we are as individuals.” No one is bigger than the project. We held to this belief through thick and thin. When we had creative disagreements, we focused our energy on the project and worked really hard to put our egos aside. This created a feeling of belonging and of purpose. It was so refreshing to work on something that was bigger than one person’s individual goals. We were making something to put out into the world. Don’t get us wrong we had our individual goals, but they never took precedent…they couldn’t or it would never work. We started this project to have fun, to learn, and to create…and that’s exactly what we did!
What you feel you attract.
There were countless times that we felt like the project was going to fall apart. How were we going to fund it? We believed in this show so much and wanted the opportunity to make it, but we wanted to do it right. We wanted it to have high production value, to be designed well, to sound perfect, to be edited within our vision…but that takes so much money! After our KickStarter campaign we raised more than our goal. We felt this project had to get made and with the love and support of our family and friends we were given the opportunity.
Who’s going to shoot it? We had countless Directors of Photography (DP) come in and out of the picture, but they never seemed to be the right fit. We were down to the wire and a week from Production with no DP. We had a conversation riddled with a bit of panic and we all agreed that our right person was out there. We found the talented and amazing Frankie Guerrero 2 days before filming!
Who was going to act in our webseries? We had worked so hard creating these characters and we needed the right actors to play them. The day that we were casting was one of the only days it rained in Los Angeles in 2014 and half the committed actors didn’t show…except all the right ones. Time and time again the actors we had envisioned for our beloved characters walked in the room, and then they proved this again on set as we loved them so.
Hiccup after hiccup came up and then they just kept working out. So we adopted the mindset of feeling like everything was going to be amazing…always…and it was! We attracted the most talented people on both sides of the camera. Everyone had a beautiful energy on set and the long days of filming were truly blissful. We left feeling like we had built a family and we were sad to not spend every waking hour with the people that had brought our visions to life. We knew they were out there and they found their way to us!
What you imagine you create.
We imagined Sunday Brunch over a few cocktails. We imagined characters and stories and we created them. We showed up and created them. Now don’t get us wrong, it was a hell of a lot of work, but it was worth every second. We dreamed, we planned, we imagined and then we created. There is no better feeling in the entire world! We didn’t know how it would happen, but it did. We put one foot in front of the other and then slowly the world opened up to our project. All it takes is a little imagination!
